Very sweet and having a layer of lemon crust was an unpleasant surprise. It was like having a low quality sour Ferrero Rocher!

The lemon curd layer is indeed a distinctive element of this cake, and it's one that many of our customers thoroughly enjoy. We understand that taste preferences can vary, and it's not uncommon for some to find it an acquired taste. Interestingly, we've had customers who initially had reservations about the lemon curd layer but, upon revisiting the cake, found that it added a wonderful balance to the overall flavor profile.
